What to see in Foshan
If you see one thing, make it the Ancestral Temple in central Chancheng. Pair it with neighbouring Lingnan Tiandi, the living pottery kiln in Shiwan, and — with more time — Xiqiao Mountain in Nanhai.
Top sight
Ancestral Temple (Zumiao)
Foshan's must-see: a Song-dynasty temple to Beidi, with Ip Man and Wong Fei-hung halls and daily lion-dance shows, right by Zumiao metro.
Old town
Lingnan Tiandi
A restored Qing/Republican district beside Zumiao — lanes of grey-brick shophouses, restaurants and cafés, liveliest in the evening.
Ceramics
Nanfeng Ancient Kiln
A 500-year-old wood-fired 'dragon kiln' still burning in Shiwan, Foshan's pottery district — and you can throw a pot yourself.
Day trip
Xiqiao Mountain
A national scenic area in Nanhai crowned by a 77 m Guanyin statue — the green half-day escape from the city.
