The Foshan metro, for visitors
For sightseeing you mostly need one line: the Guangfo Line, which stops at Zumiao (the Ancestral Temple) and runs all the way into Guangzhou in about 60 min. To reach high-speed rail, take Foshan Line 2to Guangzhou South. The schematic below shows only the lines and stops a visitor actually uses — and flags what isn't fully open.

Is everything open?
The Guangfo Line, Foshan Line 2 and Guangzhou Metro Line 7's Shunde section are fully open. Foshan Line 3 is only partly open: it runs as two disconnected halves with a gap still under construction, so don't plan to ride it end-to-end. Foshan Line 4 is not yet open to passengers. Because construction changes, this page shows a verification date — check locally before you travel.
Common questions
- Which metro line goes to the Ancestral Temple?
- The Guangfo Line. Get off at Zumiao station (Exit D); the Ancestral Temple is about a 2–5 minute walk. The Guangfo Line also passes Qiandeng Lake and continues into Guangzhou.
- How do I get from Foshan to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport (CAN)?
- Take the Guangfo Line toward Guangzhou and transfer to Guangzhou Metro Line 3 at Lijiao, which runs to Baiyun Airport — roughly 1 hour 45 minutes in total. A taxi or DiDi is often faster.
- Is Foshan Line 3 fully open?
- Not end-to-end. Line 3 runs as two disconnected sections with a gap still under construction, so you cannot ride it straight through. Verify the current status locally before relying on it.
- How do I pay for the Foshan metro?
- Most visitors scan a transit QR code in Alipay or WeChat. You can also use a Lingnan Pass card or a single-journey ticket from a station machine. Fares are distance-based, roughly CNY 2–8.
